My Les Paul now sounds like it should.
I recently acquired a 2007 Gibson Les Paul Standard but was never happy with the stock wiring sound (or the stock pickups for that matter). It seemed woody, dull and lifeless. I dropped a 50s vintage hand made harness from another supplier with bumblebee PIO caps, USA Pots etc - a big improvement, BUT I was still not sold on the sound. So I wanted to try some different pickup combinations to get this beast off life support. I hence bit the bullet and dropped in the Obsidian Wire 50s LP set into my Gibson Std, mainly so I could swap pickups in and out easily and retain a quality sound ( I hoped!). I must say, the ability to quickly drop pickups in and out without soldering has been a godsend. After a few combinations of hand wired pickups, I found the exact sound I wanted - and the Obsidian Wire harness is a big part of this. The quality is as good as any harness you can buy- the pots are smooth and responsive and the tone is spot on, and it dropped straight in. This was no sacrifice at all from the very expensive hand soldered USA harness (twice the price of the Obsidian Wire) I had briefly used previously. The Obsidian Wire was equally as good given the quality parts that are used. If you are thinking of trying different pickups and want a means to quickly drop them in and out without sacrificing a top shelf sound from your electronics, then I thoroughly recommending dropping in one of these harness sets. 11/10 for ease of both PU swapping and sound quality. My Les Paul now sounds like it should.
