Installed in my 2001 Gibson Les Paul Standard " Raw Power ". I bought this guitar used on Reverb. It had been gutted as far as electronics and EMG pickups were installed as well. It was otherwise pristine. I decided that it should return to the beast it was born to be. This meant that all electronics and pickups would need to be replaced as EMG uses some oddball pots. Listening to Billy Gibbons for 4 decades or so, I thought I should find out what pickups he used. Of course this led me to pickups that were too pricey for a working man BUT there was a set of pickups made by Seymour Duncans that were an attempt to replicate the pups in his 59 Burst. It was an easy decision to go with Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates. I installed them and used some pots and cloth wiring I had in my parts bins. It sounded good but was nowhere near what I expected. Then I read somewhere that using the Obsidian Wire Custom SC setup was the way to go with Pearly Gates some you would not only have top-notch electronic but you would also be able to split the Pearly Gates. That led me here to Obsidian Wire and I ordered up the Custom SC setup. It literally took a few minutes to install once I perfected the pot depth adjustment nuts. The wiring was the easy part! Then I fired up the JVM and crossed my fingers that it all went well as far as my wiring job goes. WOW! just WOW! It was night and day! The beast was alive and well. The pups sounded like nothing I have ever used, smooth volume and tone pots that felt high quality. I played for about 30 minutes before I remembered that I had the ability to split the coils. Again WOIW! I really and truly had no idea that a Les Paul could sound like mine does. Obsidian Wire has a new lifetime customer. If you are on the fence about the Custom SC and you have a Gibson Les Paul Standard, CLICK BUY NOW or whatever it says LOL. DO IT! But I digress... I now need to decide which one my Strat is going to get. Peace and WOW!
