We are still shipping at this time, however our stocks are low. Please be patient if the item you are looking for is not in stock, we are working hard to get these restocked as quickly as we can. We will post on our Facebook page when pre-orders are available again on our products.
Shipping times are much slower than usual, particularly to international destinations (outside of the US). We encourage you to check if there is a local ObsidianWire stockist near you on our dealers page. If you are ordering from us, please be aware that shipments have been taking longer than our usual delivery times. This situation is out of our control, unfortunately. If you have further shipping questions, please check our shipping page.
How Can We Help?
250k or 500k Pots?
Will these fit my Squier® / Epiphone?
Can you do a custom model?
Do I need solder-less pickups?
Can it be used with a shielded cavity?
What size knobs do I need?
Do I have to ground my bridge?
Quick Answer - It depends on the type of pickup you are using. To be certain, check with the pickup manufacturer.
As a general guide
- 250k pots for single coil pickups
- 500k pots for humbuckers.
Long Answer - if you use a lower pot value, more treble will find its way to ground, thus removing itself from your signal chain. As such 250k pots are generally used with pickups that are naturally brighter (i.e single coils), and 500k pots are generally used with pickups that are quite warm
Of course there are no hard and fast rules so you can experiment with these values to tame harsh pickups or add life to dull ones.
Quick Answer - Yes but some adjustment is required.
Long Answer -
Squier® - Stratocaster®
You will need to widen the control holes out to around 10mm and get new US spec, 24 spline knobs to fit the higher spec electronics.
Squier® - Telecaster®, Jazz Bass® & Precision Bass®
You will need to widen the control holes out to around 10mm (or get a new genuine Fender US plate) and get new US spec ¼”knobs to fit the higher spec electronics.
Epiphone® Les Paul®
You will need to widen the control holes out to around 10mm and get new US spec 24 spline knobs to fit the higher spec electronics.
Quick Answer - Unfortunately not.
Long Answer - We are always working on new ideas and new models. Follow the ObsidianWire Facebook Page and we will keep you up to date with any new releases.
No. ObsidianWire Pro-Wired Electronics are made to work perfectly with standard wire pickups.
Yes. We also include enough terminals to connect your shield to ground.
Your ObsidianWire Upgrade Wiring Harness is built with either split or solid shaft potentiometers and will require US spec knobs.
- Split shaft controls require US Spec 24 spline knobs
- Solid shaft controls require US Spec 1/4" knobs
If your guitar has import/metric sized knobs you will need to replace them. This includes most Squier®, Epiphone® and other import models.
Yes. Your bridge should always be grounded to avoid any un wanted hum. If you are upgrading an existing guitar there should already be a ground wire connected to the bridge, which you can use in the ObsidianWire terminal, or if you are building a new guitar you should solder a new one directly to the bridge.
