Vintage Plus pour Strat® Gen2

This is my third Obsidian wiring harness. I don’t even know why people solder anymore since this technology exists. Pots are amazing, setup was easy as usual, I can swap pickups in this strat so easily now! Love that I can choose to have a treble bleed or not.

Great technical solution and very easy to implement, instructions clear and straight forward, technical support very responsive, caring and encouraging. Installation was successful and the Strat is dreamy.

As the literature says, easy, not fast. The first installment takes probably the same amount of time as if you were soldering in new pickups. The difference with this kit, is you’re not reliant on your soldering skill, or the risk of a dry solder joint causing issues down the track.
Add in the extra features like a dedicated tone knob for the bridge pickup, Gilmore mod if you want it, it makes getting additional tones out of your instrument so easy.
I can’t count how many of these I’ve had, and each one is just fantastic.

Easy install. Great instructions, but it is really easy. Sounds great. Using this with Arcane ‘69 Experience pickups in my ‘81 3-bolt Strat. Will likely go with a tele wiring set soon when changing those pickups.

First time I’ve ever wired anything up — outside of my ol’ lady — and I gotta say, same result: I was awesome! The Obsidian Vintage Plus for Strats made me better than I am. Now my homemade Strat ( Van Halen look, but with wood inlays) has electricity, and I can make her scream too!

Installed in strat to replace old electronics that had a short in them these are top notch sounds better than before very pleased with product used the clear switch works perfectly even on drive pedals that lose lot of treble when volume roll off now retains treble better took my time installing also no need to rush makes it look good underneath plus installed new strings and polished up

Absolutely love this wiring harness for my Warmoth Strat. This is the fourth or fifth harness I've had in this guitar at it's definitely the best. My main gripe with the other harnesses I've tried before is the poor taper of the potentiometers where the volume/tone would just decrease too rapidly as you turn down. Not the case with the Obsidian. I now have an even and smooth volume and tone taper across the the whole movement of the pot . Also I love the clarity switch which combined with the taper of the pots allows me to get lots of different and usable tones with great clarity that I was never able to get before. Only one minor issue I had was that my strat control cavity had to be widened ever so slightly by the tone controls to get the harness to fit, but after I removed a little bit of wood it fit right in. Because of that it too me several hours to install because of the necessary wood work.

This is my third Obsidian wire kit ,great fit ,ease of install and hookup. The volume and tone controls are smooth the five way switch has great detent , so it never over travels the position wanted. Thank you Obsidian wire for a great kit ,and the Tonerider pure vintage pickups sound awesome.

Contacted Obsidian for a solution for an old Japanese stratocaster and received a lightening fast reply. Ordered the product and it arrived quickly, is great quality, and was a breeze to install. Made an old guitar I already had into a weapon for not a lot of money.

I'm not usually one for leaving reviews but in this case 10/10.

The best mod to come along in years. Going to convert all of my guitars to this.

Replaced pickups and used drop in specialty wiring system from Obsidian. Very easy install and worked perfectly the very first time. Dont have install pictures, but I very highly recommend their system for a Strat rebuild!

I put this in a 2017 American Strat with Fender Deluxe Drive pickups. Tone is awesome. I have an old Epiphone Les Paul Studio that I think I'll do next. These kits are perfect for someone (like me) that hates to do soldering.

The switch on my Squire Classic Vibe 50 Stra t failed. I decided this was a good time to upgrade to a better swirch , pots and input jack. However i was not sure I could purchase all the separate parts and install them. Then I found your product. It was super easy to install and it added a treble circuit and the ability to adjust the tone on my bridge puckup. The kit used quality parts which I am sure will last for many years. My guitar sounds great. The kit allowed me to spend more time playing the guitar and less time fixing my guitar. It is a great product and it fit my Squier without any modifications.Thank you.

This is my second purchase from Obsidian and again their product is amazing. I had previously been using their HSS wiring kit on my strat and it sounded awesome, but I was curious whether or not I could get away with using 500k pots for my SSL-5's in the neck and middle since they're relatively high output single coils. I was blown away by how much more even and articulate the whole guitar is now. The Humbucker in the bridge and the single coils are in perfect sync. Everything these guys make is quality and incredibly easy to install.. Trust me, you won't regret any purchase from Obsidian Wire!

Finally no more fiddling with solder iron. I don't think there's a better option for really enabling your Strat. It added a completely new dimension to my AVRI Stratocaster. I will upgrade my other Fenders & Gibsons guitars as well.

This is my 3rd kit (1 Tele/2 Strat). Install is breeze.. All the volume/tone controls fit on the control shafts. 5 way switch knob fit as well. Easy fit into the pick guard. Plug in the guitar, turn on the amp; and you get sounds...easy./simple. Saw a review from Daves fun and stuff youtube channel where he said the product was terrible. Of course he never said why. From his perspective it puts his "skills" out of job. No need to pay him to have him solder for you.

Very good product. Built with high quality components and the assembly/soldering is top notch. The sound of my Strat has never been like this before and the controls are fantastic. The tone knobs are useable from 1-10 and I can still get a very good sound with the volume from 4-10. Minus 0.5 star because of the quick connector. Works well with solid core wires but more difficult with multi-core wires.. Will not hesitate to order one for another build. Highly recommended.
