The prewire kit made this project immensely easier and enjoyable. I initially planned on hiring someone to upgrade my tele to a 4 way switch and swap out the pickups. Then I stumbled onto Obsidian while researching the process of installing the new electronics. Once I realize there was no soldering, I smiled and knew I would be doing this on my own. It took about an hour as I am a novice at fixing my guitars, but that was a very enjoyable hour and not a nervous one. The end result was fantastic! My upgraded tele sounds cleaner, allowing the new pick ups to shine. The 4 way switch is just too cool. Having an additional humbucker position adds new joy to playing a telecaster. I would highly recommend Obsidian. This should be the way electric guitars are set up electronically!
Just perfect! The tone pot on my bass was shot, so I figured I'd upgrade the whole harness. What a great product! So easy to install, even for me! I had to ream out the holes on the plate a little to make the harness fit, but other than that, so simple. Thanks again for a great product and great customer service.
I have installed four to date, and just ordered another, with more to go. I like building guitars with Warmoth necks/bodies and Seymour Duncan pickups. But the soldering mess I would make was always the weak link. It worked, usually, but it was ugly and trouble prone. So I'm going back through and getting rid of the guts of previous builds and putting these in all of them. I can build a guitar that easily equals a Fender "custom shop" for a fraction of the cost. It was always kind of a pain before due to my poor soldering abilities. But now I'm basically snapping it all together. Plus, if I want to sell it, I can take a picture of the inside and it looks beautiful. No way I could have sold my uggo soldered jobs. When you pull these out of the box they ooze quality workmanship. I would love to see Fender Jazz and Gibson/Epiphone SG versions!
I was dreading upgrading my Telecaster pickups due to my poor soldering skills. Research turned up Obsidian. I couldn’t be happier with the results. The upgraded pots, dials and wire along with my Fender ‘64 pickups breathed new life into my guitar. The install was well documented and easy. Thanks Obsidian!
