I wrote the below comments in total ignorance.Mathew, I apologize for being a huge jackass. Any issues I had were my faults and not Obsidian Wire. Everything I ordered I received and it was in top notch shape and well packaged. It was in no-way ObsidianWires fault I failed to practice due diligence and read all of the FAC’s and questions others had asked before I placed my order. Mathew wrote back to me personally and was far nicer than I deserved.
Thank you
Pat Walls
I ordered the wire kit with the plate. My order specifically says chrome plate. I ordered black plate and a crawl plate, but that’s OK. I never got the chrome plate either since you deleted my review and I have no way to contact you. I guess it’s the only way I can answer the question why don’t you sell the plates separately then
When a person orders something they at least expect some type of competence from the people they order from. I bought a tele 4 way switch with a black cover and black knobs. I started to put my guitar together today and found out there’s no cover plate for the switch and no knobs. When I pulled up my order it said I ordered a chrome plate. Not in a million years, I HATE chrome. So no I have a 4-way switch with no cover and no knobs. And guess what? You can’t buy them separately which reaches the stratosphere for stupidity. Don’t think I’ll buy from Obsidian again, so disappointed. It’s not that hard.
Thanks Patrick, I appreciate the feedback.
Your order was for the wiring only, which is not the same as our custom loaded control plates.
We will be happy to help you with a return, so you can order the full loaded control plate.

I should have researched this before buying, so it’s not entirely Obsidian’s fault.
I purchased a fully prewired pickguard, but the volume and tone controls were too wide to fit into the control cavity of my Warmoth body. After some digging, I learned that Fender Strat bodies have a slightly wider route in the area where the controls sit. Because of this difference, the Obsidian assembly is designed to fit Fender bodies but won’t properly fit into a Warmoth body. In the end, I had to abandon the prewired assembly and solder the pickups onto a traditional control setup instead.
Again, this isn’t completely their fault, but it would’ve been helpful to know beforehand. A clearer warning or disclaimer about compatibility would be appreciated.
