The new Obsidian® Vintage Plus Gen2 for Stratocaster® has had a complete overhaul to ensure you have access to the absolute in best Stratocaster Electronics. The new upgraded harness retains the traditional five way switching, but improves the tone control layout, smooths out the tone and volume control response, and gives you two volume control 'voices' so you can get your guitar setup exactly how you like it

OBSIDIAN® LAYOUT

Tone & volume controls that make sense. For the 'Gen2' model we have assigned 'Tone control 1' to the neck and middle pickups. This leaves 'Tone control 2' as a dedicated bridge pickup tone control, for balancing the brighter treble in switch positions 1 & 2.

'VOICE' SWITCHING

Match the function of your volume control to your playing style. Match the function of the volume control to your playing style, with a 'Clear' mode and a 'Balanced' mode.

'CLEAR' MODE - Crystal clear tone at any volume level
'BALANCED' MODE - Roll off some highs with the volume control for a smooth transition between clean and crunch

SMOOTH CONTROL

An even tone and volume control taper all the way from zero to ten. Obsidian® tone and volume controls incorporate carefully selected and custom-built components, as well as our own clever mods to smooth out the taper of your tone and volume controls, so you get a more even roll off all the way from zero to 10.

The Obsidian® Vintage Plus for Strat® Gen2 retains traditional '5-way' switching with a high quality Oak® '5-way' switch.

Improved Tone Control Layout:

'Tone control 1' is assigned to the neck and middle pickups. This leaves 'Tone control 2' for the bridge pickup, for balancing the brighter treble in switch positions 1 & 2.

Switchable 'Voice':

The Obsidian® Vintage Plus Gen2 wiring harness incorporates a volume control 'Voice' switch. This switch is built directly on to the harness, and will sit inside your guitar. The 'voice' switch allows you to customize how the tone and volume controls affect your over all tone. The best setting for you will depend on your own personal preferences, so we encourage you to try each option to see what works best for you.

To get started:

Voice 1: 'Clear' Crystal Clear Tone Voicing 1: 'Clear' incorporates an Obsidian® Custom Spec Treble Bleed Mod. This prevents 'muddiness' at low volumes by allowing high frequencies to pass freely through your signal chain, rather than being stopped short at the volume control. In this setting, your tone and volume controls will work completely independently of each other, and your volume control will be super smooth from 10 all the way through to zero.

Voice 2: 'Balanced' Smooth Transition from Clean to Crunch Voice 2: 'Balanced' removes the Obsidian® Custom Spec Treble Bleed Mod and re-arranges the order of the tone and volume controls. This setting allows a slight treble roll off with the volume control. The advantage: This setting allows you to roll smoothly from 'Clean' to 'Crunch' with the use of the volume control. The design is taken directly from our extremely popular MKII wiring for Les Paul®. The tone and volume controls also become more interactive, with each affecting the other, just like a Vintage 50's Les Paul®
